Drama-documentary for Channel 4 about the feisty, fearless and funny Victorian heroine Mary Seacole, a 'doctress' from Jamaica who saved lives and tended the dying during the Crimean War of 1854-6. Despite being a celebrity in Victorian England, Mary Seacole fell off the public radar for most of the Twentieth Century: but finally, in the Twenty-First, study of her achievements was made part of the National Curriculum. A public vote organised by the BBC named her the greatest black Briton of all time. Mary Seacole has recently been the subject of a very political row as the Tories have tried to remove her - and other commoners, non-whites and progressives - from the canon of history taught in British schools, in order to make room for a more conservative view of history that favours the stories of kings and wars. But they have met with vocal opposition from all quarters, showing that Britons are unwilling to lose this exceptional woman again. Written and directed by Sonali Fernando

Over nine days in July 2005, London became front page news across the world. In the long week that encompassed Live 8, Make Poverty History, the G8 summit, the Olympic bid win, the London bombings and the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII, London's symbolism, iconography and backdrops were used again and again to drastically different ends. The city became a stage on which opposing scripts were played out. The very meaning of the capital was at stake. In that week of dramatic extremes, Londoners openly acknowledged they were in this together. Collective jubilation ceded to collective horror and then to impressive stoicism and solidarity, as people got right back on the tube the day after the bombings: right back into London's fast-flowing cosmopolitan heart. A film made for Channel 4 Science about the psychology and cultural history of voyeurism, its impact on victims, and the negotiation of consent. Voyeurism is a dominant trope in Western art, exploited thematically in paintings ranging from the Biblical scene of Susanna and the Elders to women bathing by Degas - in both of which an apparently non-consensual spying scenario was created in a consensual way. In the 21st century, technology has dramatically increased the opportunities for consensual voyeurism while making non-consensual voyeurism more invasive than ever. The law in Britain has responded by recognising predatory voyeurism as a sexual crime. But why does it matter and where do we draw the line? This documentary, made for Channel 4 Television, explores voyeurism on a spectrum from consensual to non-consensual, cultural to clinical, examining also its connection to serious sexual crimes. Gloria Trevi was a Mexican rock superstar who went stratospheric throughout the Spanish-speaking world - beautiful, rebellious and adored, she was known in the 1990s as Latin America's answer to Madonna. She won accolades and platinum discs, drawing in millions of young female fans who wanted to be just like her. Then the allegations started to surface: that Gloria was procuring underage girls for her manager and producer, Sergio Andrade, to sexually abuse. Drawn by her fame and the promise of becoming backing singers in her group, a number of girls from poor backgrounds aged between 12 and 14 went to live with Trevi and Andrade for several years. Eight of them became pregnant and had children by him; a number of them claimed to have been tortured both physically and mentally in what they described as a cult. Gloria Trevi, Sergio Andrade and another woman were arrested and tried in one of the biggest cases in rock history. Featuring interviews with Trevi and Andrade when in detention in Brazil prior to facing charges in Mexico, this documentary explores the questions that Trevi's fans, the Latin American public and the Mexican judicial system were forced to ask: to what extent was Trevi an abuser, and to what extent was she herself abused?
